Macadamia Nuts or Macadamias belong to the Proteaceae family with seven Australian species, of which only 2 are edible. Named after renowned chemist & politician, John Macadam (1857), the nuts are contained in tough woody round capsules. Traditionally an important Indigenous food staple, Australia is today the world’s largest commercial producer. These highly nutritious nuts contain monosaturated fats, protein, calcium, selenium and many other beneficial minerals. Macadamia oil is rich in Omega 7 acid ideal for culinary and skincare uses. Ironically, these delicious nuts are toxic to dogs.
